Job description
For our client, an international rotor blade manufacturer we are searching for a Material Expert responsible for technical development, audits and evaluation of both materials (release projects) and suppliers that meet the organisation’s standards of quality and cost.
You will be responsible for:
- Evaluates first, second and third degree suppliers and raw materials in terms of quality and cost for short and long term delivery and capacity in order to release materials.
- Combines technical and commercial aspects in negotiation of purchasing raw materials within a complex environment of internal and external interests in cooperation with the commercial team.
- Delivers technical service support in terms of knowledge transfer and constant monitoring of material behaviour.
- Conducts complex projects – mostly approval oriented - using existing or new methods and theories to test and develop new materials within quality, HSE and quantitative requirements.
- Conducts complex research projects using existing or new methods and theories to test and develop new materials within quality, HSE and quantitative requirements.
- Sets up laboratory tests, calculates and analyses test results and prepares detailed reports with recommendations and conclusions.
- Ensures and monitors quality standards such as ISO/DIN/ASTM dictated and validated by GL/DNV.
- Supervises, coordinates, monitors and evaluates evaluation, R&D or large scale tests within international production organizations to ensure (quality) standards are met and followed.
- Sets up and maintains documents on material specifications, release procedures, work instructions, test reports etc.
- Develops and maintains technical expertise on advances and innovations in research and science in composite industry.
- Actively follows and stays up-to-date with (new) developments and trends in materials used in wind energy industry.
- Training of colleagues, internal/external, dedicated to material related topic in the broadest sense of the word.
Skills and experience:
- University or bachelor degree in chemistry, chemical technology, physics, mechanical engineering or related area, mostly with a dedicated polymer/composite engineering oriented education, course and/or gained upon work experience in practice.
- min. 5 years of related working experience in international environment.
