Iberdrola Renovables and Neoenergia sign cooperation agreement

Iberdrola Renovables and Neoenergia, a Brazilian energy holding company part owned by the Iberdrola Group, have signed a memorandum of understanding whereby they vow to work together to develop and operate wind farms in Brazil, both onshore and offshore.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy adds 5 wind farms to the incentive program Reidi

Reidi (Special Incentives Regime for Infrastructure Development) grants tax benefits and temporary exemptions. The 5 newly added wind farms have a combined capacity of 96.2MW, of which the largest is the Rio Verde wind farm in the state of Bahía, with 30MW. The other projects are Candiba (Bahía, 9MW), Porto Seguro (Igaporã, 6MW), Sangradouro 2 (Rio Grande do Norte, 26MW), Faísa I (Ceará, 25.2MW).
Chile
GDF Suez to invest in expansion of Monte Redondo wind farm

GDF Suez announced it will invest $23 million to expand the Monte Redondo wind farm from 34 to 48MW. The 5 new wind turbines will arrive at the end of September and are expected to begin operations in the first trimester of 2011. The investment will also support the usage of the wind farm for educational purposes and student visits.

The President of the National Energy Commission, Enrique Ramírez, announced that three new wind farms will begin operations in 2011. The project named Los Cocos (33MW), in Pedernales, will begin in May, and projects in Baní (30MW) and Puerto Plata (50MW) will follow later in the year.

The Commissioner for Energy in the National Congress, Carlos Kattán, announced that the works in the first wind farm in the country will begin in September and will be ready in 18 months.
Mexico
(Too) high winds in La Venta wind farms. Planned investment for 2011
High winds have hindered performance of the La Venta wind farms. Spanish Acciona plans to invest over $800 million during 2011, in order to expand the infrastructure in La Venta IV to up to 400MW.
First wind farm in Jalisco to be installed in 2011
A 60MW wind farm is planned to begin operations in the last trimester of 2011 in the municipality of Ojuelos, state of Jalisco, with an estimated investment of $100 million. The 30 2MW turbines will be installed by Eoliatec de México.
Peru
Clipper will install a wind farm in northwestern Peru
In a meeting with the regional president César Delgadillo Fukusaki, US based turbine manufacturer Clipper has expressed its wishes to invest in a 24 turbine wind farm in the Paita province, Piura region.
